Undone I

What once was whole, is now undone
What once was embraced, is now cast aside
These veins that have bled
Drips of crimson on faded parchment
Stains us, tears us asunder, and lays us low
It does not feel the sacrifice of the noble death
Nor the insistent suffering of the Gods

The soul that yearns
The heart that beats
The eyes that seek
The hands that clasp
All searching for meaning
From the oppressor that resides inside

Ares stands, on Olympian grandeur
With sword and shield, hands clutched tightly
His brows are knitted in anxiety
A watchman, waiting for human inhumanity
The tree that bears everlasting fruit
The motive to strike, as eternal wrath is unleashed

“Arise, arise!” he cries to the stars
And the vacant thrones of ancient Gods
Shall be filled once more
Resonating across the great expanse
As approaching footfalls echo into infinity
Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon
Hermes, Hera, and Hephaestus
Athena, Aphrodite, and Apollo
Chaos has awakened, and Erebus has stirred

For the time of the Gods has come once more
And man shall reap his just reward
For what once was whole, is now undone
And the Gods do not feel the sacrifice of the noble death…
